Well we finally made it here to the city of London! After a LONG train ride we rode the tube to the dorm, got a little settled in and started to explore London. We had a short and simple...probably too simple...lesson on the transportation in London, which didn't help us at all by the end of the night! The girls and I went to a small Italian sandwich shop over on the corner by our dorm, it was pretty good. We sat and talked till they closed about classes and other things...it was a good time. Then we decided to venture out and look around at some shops that were ALL over the place, along with people! I have been to Chicago before but this seems nothing like it! There are SO many people, it's crazy! I went into Sainsbury's and got some Jaffa Cakes that I've wanted for forever! You can buy them in the US as well, they are cookies/biscuits, with chocolate on one side, like a soft ginger cookie on the other, with, usually, an orange jam filling in the middle. THEY ARE DELICIOUS! And now, I have a new obsession! I bought 2 boxes while we were there!
After that the girls and I came back to the dorm and we set out for our adventure....we had no clue about yet...we took the tube to Leicester Square, it's like a part of town with lots of clubs and pubs! We went to The Zoo Bar, which is nothing like our small little bars at home...LOTS of people, but good music and fun! The girls and I had a good time, met some friendly locals, some unfriendly ones, as well. We then started to venture home and although it took us about 2 hours to get home, finally finding a taxi when we were close by, it was a learning experience I suppose! It made me miss home and even Plymouth, a LOT. But now we know to make sure we know how the buses run and how we are getting home before we leave next time!
Today we are going on a scavenger hunt in the city, getting off on unknown tube stops, having class on Sunday....yeah this study abroad experience has become one that I will definitely never forget...or recommend for anyone else in the future. I understand that we are the first program for this and that it's a learning thing, but it's not a very fun one to be the guinea pig and not know what you're doing everyday, and having to take class on a SUNDAY! So yeah....there's my rant and rave for this morning! But overall I am having a GREAT time with Tara, we are getting closer by the second! :) She's been my date to places and we have been having SO much fun hanging out together! It makes Kevin not being here easier to get through, because she misses her BF a lot too from home. ONE WEEK and we're back! :)
Hope everyone is doing well! Miss ya'll!
